Geh, I was so excited to see more of Izuru and then we get this. But what you said it’s true, this is the major war and the final of the series (I think) I wouldn’t be surprised that Kubo decided to wipe out some of the major characters. It seems senseless to show this kind of blow to a fandom beloved character and have him revived just moments later. It would make more sense to keep him dead for sure and see the others reactions. Kira has deep connections with some of the other characters after all, it will be interesting to see how they react. And sure, Mayuri and Rangiku suffered similar wounds, but they were in the middle/final of the battle and had put on a great fight, Kira didn’t even had the time to raise his sword. That said, I can’t believe that it had to be Izuru. He was my top fav character T.T
